How do you feel when your favorite TV station pre-empting a show from the networks (i.e. NBC,CBS,ABC, etc)?
For example, Asheville, NC’s WLOS-TV 13 (ABC) pre-empting ABC shows like “Thunder Alley”, “All American Girl”, etc. for syndicated reruns of “Murphy Brown”, pre-empting “Mike and Maty”, “The View” for syndicated “Jerry Springer”. WSPA-TV pre-empting CBS game shows for syndicated show “Wipeout” with the late Peter Tomarken. And WGHP-TV 8 Greensboro, NC (FOX O&O, then ABC) pre-empting “Dark Shadows” in favor of old movies. What would you do when your local TV station locally pre-empts a TV show infavor of local or syndicated programming? Complain to the station, or other. To me, Independent stations broadcasting networked run shows pre-empted by network affiliated stations are impostoring networks. (i.e. WAXA-TV 40 in Anderson,SC [now WBSC WB40 (soon to be MNTV)] broadcasted NBC-TV’s “Super Password” in the 1980s pre-empted by Greenville, SC’s NBC-TV affiliate WYFF-TV (in which I loved their Arrow 4 logo they used to have from 1974-1991.
I kinda get really pissed off. I begin to sulk and threaten to write all the affiliates. Then I get really happy. I start to shake a little…get a little squeaky…and then I do jumping jacks naked in the dark. All in all, that’s how I feel when my favorite TV station pre-empts a show from the networks!
