WordPress, Squidoo, Blogspot, GoDaddy. Which is better for business sales, blogs, and affiliate income?
I would like to sell crafts, MLM products or some other items in the most low cost way possible. I want to be able to add photos, banners, links to other websites and affiliate ads. I am not sure what website to use. I have heard about WordPress, Squidoo, Blogspot, and GoDaddy, but I have no idea which would work best. What do you think. If there are alternatives, please give your advise. Thank you.
I don’t know about Squidoo. I will advise against Blogspot. GoDaddy is the most professional, the very most flexible for blogs (though you’ll have to install your own blog software and configure it), and affiliate income, and so, best for business sales though perhaps not the cheapest.
With WordPress.com you can do this: Start by getting a free WordPress.com blog. Set it up. Add to it, perhaps, what they call a few “static” pages, containing some non-blog content of your choice.
Next, pay the $15 for the privelege of tailoring your own CSS. Choose one of their “Sandbox” templates, so as to have the maximum flexibility in tailoring the look and feel of your website. Then write your CSS to make the stuff look as you want it.
You can set up your WordPress so that one of the “static” pages is the first page that appears when somebody goes to the blog, INSTEAD of the blog page itself. Look at the help files to find out how to do this.
Finally, buy a domain name ($8 or so per year – cost of a paperback book, no?). Pay the WordPress cost, $15 per year, for pointing your domain name at your WordPress blog, so that your WordPress blog becomes www.mydomain.com. Voila! Website!
