Phone interview with company I have worked for previously?
Last November I was working for X company as a temp (hired thru temp agency) in June of this year my contract ended as well as all of the other temps due to company financial difficulties. I loved working there and got along with the staff in my department rather well (payroll dept.) yesterday I was looking thru the want ads and noticed one of the affiliates of this company was hiring for an admin position. I immediately went to the website and applied mentioning that I worked for this company before as a temp and would love an opportunity to come back.
I got a response via email today for a phone screen interview. Although I have never actually met this person, I handled all of her payroll and benefits choices.
Since I am sot of an “insider” from this company, will this increase my chances of getting this job? Hopefully they talked to my previous boss who liked my work. What do you think?
It’s definitely a benefit that you worked there previously, which is why you probably got called so quickly for the phone interview. Be careful not to mention anything about this lady’s personal account information (I’m sure you know that already) when talking with her.
An added benefit would be if you could contact the manager in the department and let him/her know that you have a phone interview and ask them to put in a personal recommendation for you. This will go a long way to getting you to the next step – a personal interview.
