Affiliates Seeking
In this eCom age can “in person” mean talking on the phone or does it have to mean in the flesh?
If a governing body has a requirement that clubs seeking to be affiliated with it need to have their membership “vote in person” before applying to join the governing body is it deemed to be legally or legitimately the same if a conference call vote is taken by the members or is it essential for members to be physically present together in order for this requirement to be fulfilled.
the Members of our Club by a resolution passed in General Meeting by a majority of not less than three-fourths of the Members voting in person thereat directed the Committee to apply for affiliation with “the governing body”
“In person” means that your physical body must be present at the location of the vote. Had phoning it in been an option, it would have said “by phone”.
