Why is it that people have to affiliate those who listen to techno/electronica as “homosexuals”?
Its stupid! I happen to listen to nothing but electronica, and I’m not gay. In fact, I am a electronica DJ:

And I don’t mix that mainstream crap—those electronic songs give true electronic music a bad name! I’m a underground/indie DJ. I’m just tired of all the brainwashed people affiliating techno/electronic/house/trance with homo/bisexuals! >_<
Repeat after me: ITS JUST MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!! So enough with the stereotypes shitards!!!!
You’re taking this way too seriously. Here’s why people say techno/electronica is gay:
In the US, this style of music first became very popular in the gay mega dance clubs like the Roxy in NYC. And, as is typically the case with most things gay, the trend caught on in the straight clubs years later. Techno music is hot if you’re a club DJ or if you’re a person who likes to party in dance clubs. It isn’t well known in the mainstream because it doesn’t get much radio play and rarely gets any rotation on music channels like VH1 or MTV. In the US, the radio stations that mostly play techo are gay or gay-friendly and the only cable TV channel that regularly feature techno music artists is Logo, the gay channel. This doesn’t mean that the music is gay, thats just an association that mainstream music fans make because they don’t really know anything about it. But the gay stations give plenty of airtime to techno because they know that most of their audience will appreciate it—not so with mainstream audiences..
But this is true mostly in the US. In Europe, techno is HUGE! The music and the videos are in heavy rotation all over the place, and the party people over there (whether they are gay or not) prefer it over remixed versions of the mainstream stuff.
