Is there a war against Christians in America?
I am asking this question, not because I have an opinion.Iam asking it because believe it or not that is a topic on our local ABC affiliate Channel 13 Houston TX.News at 6pm CT this evening. What is your opinion?
Yes, and we Christians, for the most part, brought it on ourselves.
European Christians came to this land, killed off most of the Natives, and enslaved Africans. Believing Christians managed to wage unjust wars (including the current one), establish Jim Crow, etc. However, other kinds of believing Christians managed to break Jim Crow and protest against unjust wars.
Unfortunately, when Americans think of “Christian” these days, they think not of Sr. Helen Prejean or Martin Luther King, but Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson and even (ugh!) Ann Coulter. To paraphrase a song, “You give Christ a bad name!”
Now toxic ultraconservative Christianity influences, if not outright rules, the White House. The powers-that-be have hijacked Christianity, and “deceive the elect”, the majority of true believing Christians who unfortunately have been hookwinked by these “leaders”.
As Jesus, the Jewish Messiah, waged war against toxic Judaism (the Pharisees), we today must wage war against toxic American Christianity. Unfortunately, many Americans can’t tell the difference between toxic and true Christianity, and therefore wage war against all Christianity. God help us all.
